In a recent development, the Shiba Inu community finds itself confronting a pressing security crisis, with malicious actors taking aim at one of its vital communication channels. The situation has been exacerbated by the compromise of Ragnar, an admin of the Shibarium Telegram channel, whose Telegram account was infiltrated by a hacker. This unfortunate event has triggered concerns within the SHIB community and has prompted influential figures to issue urgent advisories.

The disclosure came to light through DaVinci, a SHIB Discord admin, who relayed a message from Lucie, the official marketing specialist of the Shiba Inu team. According to DaVinci, the compromised account, masquerading as Ragnar, is spreading false information regarding an upcoming BONE airdrop to members of the Shibarium Telegram channel. The hacker claims that BONE tokens for this purported airdrop will be drawn from the “team treasury wallet” and touts it as a limited-time event.

DaVinci has issued a stern caution to SHIB holders, imploring them not to engage with the compromised account, as such interactions could potentially jeopardize their Shiba Inu assets. @vetkusama, a well-known SHIB-themed figure on the X app who identifies as the “brother of Shytoshi Kusama,” has echoed these sentiments. He has cautioned the SHIB community against clicking on any links contained in Ragnar’s posts and emphasized that there is no legitimate airdrop scheduled.

This unsettling incident has sparked vigorous discussions within the community about the urgent need for heightened cybersecurity measures to safeguard Shiba Inu-associated accounts. Given that Bone (BONE) plays a pivotal role as a governance token for the Shibarium dex ShibaSwap and also serves as the gas token on the Layer-2 blockchain Shibarium, the security of these accounts has assumed paramount importance.

In a brighter development, there is positive news concerning the burn rate within the SHIB community. According to data from the Shibburn website, over the past 24 hours, SHIB holders collectively burned an impressive 38,942,436 SHIB tokens, representing a remarkable 107% surge compared to previous days earlier in the week. This surge in the burn rate comes as a welcome relief, as the rate had remained stagnant despite the cumulative burn of over 100,000,000 SHIB tokens earlier in the week.

Notably, during this recent burn, no substantial amounts of Shiba Inu tokens were funneled into inactive wallets; the most significant transfers accounted for slightly less than 7 million SHIB tokens. This underscores the unwavering commitment of the SHIB community to reduce the circulating supply of Shiba Inu tokens by locking them away in non-spendable wallets on a daily basis.

Last month, the community achieved an extraordinary milestone by incinerating more than 2.3 billion Shiba Inu tokens, highlighting the dedication and determination of SHIB holders to increase the scarcity of the token.

As the Shiba Inu community remains vigilant against cybersecurity threats and continues its active efforts to reduce the circulating supply of SHIB tokens, its tenacity and dedication continue to be the hallmark of this cryptocurrency movement.
